Thanksgiving Day Chow Was...

...NEVER like this in Vietnam...!

The KBR folks who run the Chow Hall here do a great job every single day, but mannnnnnnnn, did they take it to a higher level on Thanksgiving Day!!!!

My last Thanksgiving Day in combat found me as a 2ndLt in 3d Force Recon Co, out in the A Shau Valley. The Thanksgiving Day in combat before that found me as a Sgt in E/2/4, around Quang Tri...only thing Thanksgiving about the chow then was that we were thankful we had some, and it was TURKEY LOAF in the C's...! :(

Yesterday, however, I wasn't thinking about how "nice" folks made it for us, here in the (relative) rear with the gear, but rather three groups of very special folks who weren't enjoying the Feast with us...those Warriors out there standing fully in Harm's Way who could only take a few moments away from their concentration towards the enemy...those Brother Warriors from that time long ago who never got the chance to enjoy another Thanksgiving with their friends and loved ones...and then...our FRIENDS and LOVED ones who aren't with us over here, but who we know are "there for us"...all-in-all, a pretty darned good day, considering....

Oh yeah...no incoming last nite...made it even nicer!!! ;)

Wow, what a spread. You ol' REMF'S really got it made. Keep hangin' in there my friend and we'll see you in, what is it, July? Try to find the nearest Air Force Base so you can practice your golf before you get home. Maybe we can dig up that fossil Col. Bullethead, (Ret) for a few rounds. I should be retired by then.

Semper Fi! and thanks for all the kind words....even know I know you must have been drunk to say them.

Thank you for service Marinevet, Hope everyone had a great Turkey Day. I enjoyed it with my family, and got to see the COWBOYS kick butt. I also rememberd our brave men and women on active duty when I said grace before we ate. It was nice yesterday, one of the best Turkey Days I have ever enjoyed.
