Not Much Sympathy Here!

We've had snow on the ground since Late November.
It's 6 degrees this morning.
We've had snow storms, Ice storms, and wind storms this winter. No sympathy for the mid-west.

We usually have snow on the ground about the same time Keith. We've had a dusting this year. Lake effect snow blows from the Great Lakes toward the SE and we get a few inches. Wed., we got about 1" and it melted with the 50 degree weather Thursday. It's now raining and we're supposed to see freezing rain, sleet and snow from the midwest storm tonight through Monday. Oh well, I guess we deal with it.

For your consideration: The difference between magnetic North and true North is called variation. Variation widens constantly. It widens about 2 minutes east each year. Could that have any bearing on "global warming?" A 2 minute twist in the earth's axis could make a hell of a difference in climate.

This is our third ice event this season. Not nearly as bad as Oklahoma got it but I could still live without it. Its something like 19 out so it could be worse.

magnetic North and true North are different because of the wobble. Earth doesn't rotate in a circle, it wobbles making magnetic north (which is the true north) different from the spot on a map that someone says is north. It's been doing that for OH, 4 billion years. about the same time earth was tilted off axis slightly which , by the way, is why we have seasons.
Im so smart.

It's a big ol' goose egg here in Grand Forks, ND although the low was -20 the other night with wind chills around -43. Winter is back, though I feel bad as my folks are dealing with an inch of ice in IL.

plowing,...

...

...the only thing I have plowed this year is leaves, had a bunch left over that I didn't get to, and then had enough to push to the back hill, plow works, spent $200.00, sold the old one for $100.00, I ain't complain' full Myers, now we'll see if we can make some coffee n lunch money,......................

...winter's a might late this year, remember late November, with some snow, but by Dec 14th, usually had a few inches scattered around, and Jan through April, covered,....... I'll take it,... slow this year as it gave me a little chance to catch up on chores, weird, always seemed like something was missed, and "will get to it in the spring", but shi+, I think i'm bout caught up might get some time to relax, and go back to work,...

...yea, right,............................

Ya'll take care in the midwest ice storm 07' I just heard Missouri has called out the National Guard to check on the old folks to make sure they aren't freezing during the power outage from the ice storm. KC was on the news showing all the cars slipping and slideing on the interstate interchange there. :a:
