2/11 5th Mech inf
 

Does anyone know if this unit went to VN , It would have been late 68 or early 69.
It was the unit I went to after VN.

Was a Fort Carson in Dec 1970 Ron, This unit was at Carson then, don't know about if it was in Nam or not.

Was opcon to the 5th Mech in April 71. Worked with 1/61 and 1/11 but don't remember 2/11

Wasn't there only 1 brigade of the 5th in VN? I think it was the 1st. They operated out of Dong Ha, just up the hill from our compound by the bridge.

I was at Carson from July-Sept 3rd 68. and all that time they were doing VN training , Ambush and counter, etc. The guys I roomed with were always asking me about the realism of the training, they said they were going? I started to tell them stuff and one day a Sgt Major came up to me and said that I told ----- that some of the training was not like what they would encounter. I told him yes, and then he said , Knock it off. So because the guy I told this stuff to went and told that I was telling them stuff , I decided that they could just find out on there own. I didn't say anything after that.

I think 2/11 was part of 2nd Brigade and only the 1st Brigade went to Vietnam. 2/11 did not deploy to RVN.
