Welcome Home 4th Special Ops!
The USAF 4th Special Operations Squadron has just arrived back home at Hurlburt Field after a tour in Iraq.
|
The 4th Special Operations Squadron is the largest of eight flying squadrons within the 16th Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt Field, Fla. The squadron employs the AC-130U Spooky gunship for close air support, armed reconnaissance, and interdiction missions in support of conventional and joint special operations forces.
Welcome home, guys and gals! Glad you're back here with us in the States! And THANK YOU for a job well done! |

I had some good friends serve with the 4th SOS as aircraft maintainers. You gotta love and respect an airplane with a Howitzer on board flying sideways :D

Welcome home 4th SOS....great patch and thanks for a job well done. Get some Air Force!

Jerry,
I understand that some of the gunships have a rapid firing 40mm Bofors on board (flying sideways :D ). These guys got some bad juju! |
A gunship accomplished an unusual feat, May 8, 1969, when it shot down an enemy helicopter. Thus was born the nickname the "fabulous four engine fighter" to the chagrin of fighter pilots :D There are rumors that Specters shot down a MIG or two in Vietnam...

QUESTION:
What's the difference between God and fighter pilots? ANSWER: God doesn't think he's a fighter pilot. :D :D :D |
