I've not seen "Hot Shots", and haven't been able to find out if there was an Operation by that name in the film. Generally speaking, the time place of the film would correspond with Wild Weasel services, and so it would have been plausible for a screen writer to use the name.
The "Wild Weasel" is kind of aircraft and a kind of military mission that started in VN, and is still performed today.
Only 5 aircraft have ever been given that designation, thusfar.
