If a side decided to leave the union and won, then it would be a great victory, and a new constitution would be written, If that side would loose, they would then be tried for breaking the amendments. As in all wars, The winner writes the history.
In WW2, The United States, England and Russia killed just as many if not more (NON COMBATANTS) as Germany did including the jews. And Russia executed 100 of thousands of prisoners on the march back to Russia from Germany. No one was tried for war crimes on the winning side.
Look at Custer and history, a massacure? The other side probably wrote "a great victory"
