A little thing like a 35% Tax on Imports started the last civil war and this Drivers License act could lead to the same thing just depends how strongly the states feel. Last time it was easier the 35% tax on imports was mostly coming out of the Southern Democrat States coffers and the Northern Industrial Republicans and their Democrat Allies needed that money to fund their expansion of the Steel, textile and Rail Road industry. So the South was only getting 25% of the return on their Tax Dollars to DC were as the Northern Industrial States were getting 75% of the revenue from Taxes to build their infrastructure. Now we have the UNFUNDED federal mandate for a National Drivers License standard. Smaller states like Maine with smaller tax base may not be able to fund the equipment and changes required. Who wants to be treated like a second class citizen and not be able to freely travel across the Country or Fly just because your Drivers License don't meet federal standards.Then there is the RFID chip they want implanted in your license that unless you shield it in a foil lined wallet anyone with the proper software could track you anywhere you go that takes credit cards with easy pass scanners. Just something to make you say Hmmmmm.
