I can not help but ponder, especially during this blessed time of the year, how mankind has really not progressed that far beyond a cave mentality?

Granted, this “Race Humanity” has, at times, excelled in literature, ingenuity, the bloody mechanics of war, and even in boasting about it’s self-proclaimed divine heritage! But in reality - truth, morality, dignity and equality, have taken a back seat to greed and avarice. And in the world of the constant promotion of the politically and economically vested, we as a Race of (so-called) thinking creatures, are still bogged down back at square #1 - somewhere just outside the rusting gates of Eden!

Did not Cain bash in Abel’s skull away back when? And has not mankind been at war with each other since day one? And while we are on the subject, what a splendid job we have done at fouling up our environment and our planet as well! “Yes indeed, we have made the Devil proud and progressed splendidly to the rear!” This, of course, is not the way that it has to be, it is just the way that it is!

Not Dante, Poe, nor even I, could paint a darker picture than the reality of that quintessential author of all despair - “Mankind Itself!” He has labored hard and long on creating the grotesque, in bastardizing the sublime, and in trashing even the very sod that he walks upon, as well as the air that he breathes!

If nothing else, however, humanity has mastered the black arts of self-deception! If it is good - we change it, if it is divine - we alter it, if it is self- incriminating- we deny it, and if it is workable, we immediately destroy the mold!

“Happy New Year Humanity“ and at the rate that we are going, we may not see many more!
