farm trip yesterday...
I had a most relaxing trip yesterday and last night to a friend's farm just north of Memphis. They have 52 acres with llamas, miniature donkeys, miniature deer, goats, sheep, horses, canada geese, ducks, and huge flocks of purple martins. They have a large pond full of fish, from which they trapped three beavers last year. I got to meet a llama up close and personal. They have the
most inquisitive and intelligent looking gaze. You expect them to start speaking any minute. Anyway, one of th llamas gave birth earlier in the day. The baby was having a lot of problems and couldn't stand up yet. Last August one of the male miniature donkeys, named "Meanie" killed a baby llama. They have him in a separate area now. When I went home last night I just felt real good. It is sometimes easy to get all wrapped in work and family and life in the city and forget about the country. I look forward to going there many times.
