Colin Ramsey of San Diego County was recently invited to London at the request of Queen Elizabeth (according to media reports) to represent his Great-Great Grandfather at a dedication service in ?Jolly Old England!?
Ramsey?s Great-Great Grandfather, a Color Sergeant in the British Army, displaying great heroism and bravery, rescued his captain in bloody combat, four years before the onset of our own Civil War, and was even wounded in the process! It was during the Indian Mutiny to overthrow British Rule in Northern India, and the Medal itself had long ago been donated to a British Museum.
The United States has no shortage of genuine heroes itself, native and foreign ancestry alike. And I find it truly impressive that men like James Munro would have relatives, several generations removed, living right here in the United States.
Apparently the link between England and the U.S. of A., although strained at times, has never been ruptured, as was proven by the magnificent co-operation and victory achieved by the United States, Britain and the rest of the gallant Coalition in Iraq, but a short time ago!
?Britain did not, like France, Russia and Germany, ask why, but rather when, after it was obvious that Hussein?s insanity had to be stopped! And yes indeed, John Bull and Uncle Sam are brothers to the end, separated only by a common language!?
