On my first trip back stateside, we stopped in Hawaii. Funny thing, I don't
remember anybody missing. What really irritated me was that everyone else
arriving in Hawaii got beautiful Leis to wear around their necks. I wanted
one for my Mother. Being December and returning to Michigan, a nice flower
garland of exotic tropical flowers would have been nice. We didn't get
them, I seareched the airport for a couple hours looking for a flower shop.
Oh, well.
In later years, I rationalised that agricultural products from abroad would
not be allowed back, but for those couple hours I was really bummed.
