I don't disagree with that point of view. and the whole thing is
cloudy in that respect but I can remember his name popping up during
the investigation.
My Lai was a terrible thing and I don't condone it but I understand
how war makes you crazy and people on all sides do terrible things
sometimes.
The problem is that commanders at various levels tend to cover their
butts when its not the right thing to do.
As far as references, put
Powell*my lai
into google (just copy and paste it as it is) and you get 13,000
references including one that says int he header that Powell ordered
the action.
