"Big Brothers" and/or Big Brother Governments always do what "They" quite dictatorially do,...whether in fictional text or as historically proved over & over. Hitler & Stalin couldn't have faired near as well, if had well armed populations whom could protect themselves to contend with.

Doubly Unfortunate for all of We American Civilians if Political Disarming of The People ever comes to pass, is the quite obvious reality that both Domestic & Criminally Illegal Alien Criminals and/or America's Societal Predators can never & will never be disarmed. If any of such actually ever obeyed laws in the first place,...they just wouldn't be Criminals.
