I was discussing with an old WWII vet one time about PTSD and why it seemed to be more prevalent among Vietnam Vets than WWII Vets. He said the WWII guys were in for the duration and a lot of them that would have had PTSD had commited suicide long before the war was over. He said it was much more common than has been reported.
