Larry,
I could be wrong but I?m pretty sure that?s the same Hughes who is a good friend of one of our town residents, a guy who is one of the two sons of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. There was a ?movement? to clear the names of the Rosenberg?s and reparations for the family because the U.S. government had a witch hunt resulting in the execution of those two. The movement ended when the KGB files were opened and the U.S. left discovered, much to their dismay, that Julius and his wife were KGB agents.

Mr. Hughes is a blame America first sort of dude who believes there is never a cause which is worth going to war for. I?d think people would have figured out by now we can fight terrorism on their turf or on our own, as in 9/11. Can?t speak for others but I like the idea of fighting on someone else?s turf.

I was really struck by the way Hughes put down the other guy. He?s small, does that make him bad? Tom Cruise is small, about 5?4, he?s left wing, should we never watch a movie Cruise makes because he?s short?

He says it was wrongly claimed that there were WMD?s in Iraq. There were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Someone should tell the Kurds. It was also wrongly claimed that Iraq had ties to al Qaeda. Saddam gave $25,000 or more to all the suicide bombers in the middle east but wasn?t connected with al Qaeda. That?s a bit hard to swallow. And exporting democracy would be a walk in the park, did this guy really say that? I?ll have to dig out a history book or two but I doubt there are any examples of a nation moving from dictatorship, monocracy or whatever that was a walk in the park. If someone said it he should have been scoffed at then and there.

The author is inflammatory and certainly knows how to use ?hot words?. However socialism never was my cup of tea.

Stay healthy,
Andy
