Unwarranted condemnation
To compare the actions of just a handful of dolts and fools at Abu Ghraib with the outstanding accomplishments of the thousands of other reserve component warriors is grossly unfair. It is almost the same as saying that the demented jailers represent the entire mindset of our Army, a far cry from reality or truth. Dodd is focusing on a microscopic number of ill-prepared and unled morons, whose major focus in life seems to be a hedonistic gratification level.
There are reserve component forces in both Iraq and Afghanistan that have constructed bridges, road and schools, without abusing the civilian countryside or population. There are other RC that have treated hundreds of civilian patients from every conceivable and sometime inconceivable diseases and injuries, all doing so quietly and with respect.
Blanket indictments as offered by Matthew Dodd might make good reading at first, but they are frequently a gross abuse of journalistic freedom.
