Larry Abraham?s words of foreboding and caution are not far fetched at all, but can be subject to debate in some instances. It seems to me that Osama bin Laden was dealt a serious setback and is taking a timeout to regroup and plan a different plan. Maybe he had an aspiration to become the recognized Islamic Ali Pasha but I figure he had and still has the greater aspiration to become the Islamic Caliph and de facto global ruler. His reckoning that 9/11 would ignite a global Islamic uprising and Jihad turned out to be wrong and he ended up facing forces that he promised would never set foot in Afghanistan, thus he was wrong again. His highly praised and touted 55th (555th ?) Battalion cut and run in Afghanistan and those who didn?t were rendered to a pink raspberry jam vapor/dust soon enough and that didn?t set well at all with the fickled Osama groupies of the time.
What has happened, is happening now and will continue to happen is that Al Qaeda and their ilk will hammer at the west?s perceived week points and try to influence political events via terrorism. They will exploit every nook where they can find political divisionism and hammer away in an effort to gain some traction with a real or perceived more compliant political structure. Spain has rolled over and gave up the fight, France and Italy are facing and struggling with increasing Islamic militancy, threatened terrorism is a factor in Australia?s election process and to a lesser degree this is true in the Philippines and Indonesia. My gloomy thought is that we won?t get through Nov 2 without an effort or multiple efforts to force some Al Qaeda desired outcome via a terrorist attack or attacks. It?s also my thought that the current ratcheting up of the battles in Iraq are directly connected to our election season vacillation, or apparent vacillation. But this then gets into a political debate and we?d have to peruse this discussion in the assigned political debate forum. Any seconds?
