Post Back when I was finishing college

I believe it was in 72 or 73 I met a guy who had received TDY orders for home but never got any further orders. He said he stayed at home until his tour of duty was up. Got regular promotions and pay raises up to E-4, worked a regular job. When his two years was up he reported to Ft. Lewis to be discharged. They hasseled him at Ft. Lewis but gave him an honorable discharge. He said the brass told him he should have checked in much sooner but had no choice but to give him a discharge. However, they made sure he was assigned to a reserve unit and attended his monthly meetings. Sometimes the paper work breaks down when you are dealing with millions of orders.
