Found ya?ll at the Internet caf?. Office set up is at the Duna Plaza in north Budapest and my home digs are now near Ferencick tere (square) in south Budapest, about a block from the Duna (Danube) river. Connecting the two is the Metro subway ?Blue Line? so that?s great. Ha, never thought this Nevada hayseed would be commuting to work on a subway but it?s cool. Sorry to report that the Danube isn?t blue at all, gray-green is more like it, so I guess the song lyrics were just more spin after all.
Lot?s of history here and being a hopeless museum nut, I expect I?ll turn up in some Budapest museum lost-and-found somewhere along the way. This weekend I?ll be going to ?Statue Park? and that will be special. When the Soviet Communist dictatorship/domination ended, all the statues, plaques, etc.; hundreds and hundreds of items, were removed from the streets of Budapest and now form an outdoor museum. They are all there; Lenin, Marx, Engels, Dimitrov, scores and scores of supposed ?martyrs?, etc. Maybe viewing the Communist artifacts will provide a bit more closure, we?ll see. Now if I just had me one of them Psycho Vet hats I would surely wear it whilst touring the outdoor museum. Now that?s what I call closure, for sure.
