Take a deep breath, and repeat after me: "Immigration reform will be priority #1 in the next congressional sesson." Now, don't you feel better? Seriously, the illegal driver's license thing probably didn't belong in the Intel Bill in the first place, but I'm glad that Sensenbrenner brought it to the national attention. My money is on the promise of the Speaker that it will be HRC #1 in the next session.
And part of any reasonable immigration reform must include some form of valid, counterfeit-proof ID card. I firmly believe that we have the technology, brains and will to create a national ID system that will easily spot aliens, over-extended visa users, and attempts at voter fraud. Since security is a national issue, a national case can be made for a national ID system; normally, I'm all atwitter with States' Rights, but when it comes to our national security, States' Rights take a back seat.
