Well said, Andy. It IS our duty as the only superpower to act as a "policeman"...not to go running off into every little spat...but when whole nations are threatened, we should be there to protect the down-trodden. And if our own security is threatened, take the battle TO the enemy. Fight the war on THEIR territory. Keep the enemy off OUR land.
I think, nay, KNOW that is exactly what W has been doing for the last couple years. I don't care what his motives are. I don't care whether there were WMD's. I don't care if oil is the real reason we went to Iraq. The fact still remains that we were attacked, not once, but several times between 1992 and 2001. Our nation has been relatively peaceful since we went to the Middle East looking for those ruthless murderers and if that's what it takes to keep the battle out of my backyard, out of my children's backyard, then more power to him.
