Kentucky Fire Truck Accident Leaves One Firefighter Dead, One Injured

An accident involving two volunteer firefighters, Barbara Bordenkircher and William Stanton from the Wickliffe Rural Fire Department in Kentucky, left Bordenkircher dead and Stanton in the hospital with serious injuries. The accident occurred approximately at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Michael Bryant, Wickliffe Rural's Fire Chief. 'I came to the scene afterwards. No other vehicles were involved,' said Bryant.
The two firefighters were responding to a grass fire caused by a man pulling a pontoon boat. The tire came off the trailer as it was going down the road, said Bryant. It threw sparks and ignited a fire.
