Description:
(USN) Donna Dean was born in 1941 in Marin County, California, and graduated from high school in Grass Valley CA before moving to San Francisco to find work. She enlisted in the WAVES reserves in 1963, and moved to active duty status as an officer in 1967. Donna was posted to San Diego; Lowry AFB in Colorado; Naval Sea Systems Command; and the Naval Photographic Center; and she served as a department head under the Deputy, Communications Security Command, in Washington DC. In 1974 she was posted to the Human Resources Management Detachment, Naples, Italy, where she worked on gender integration and race relations issues. She later served in the Naval Support Station at Naples. In 1978 she moved to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Norfolk VA. Donna left the Navy in 1981, and earned a Ph.D. in 1994. She has published several fiction and non-fiction works, including Warriors Without Weapons: The Victimization of Military Women (1997).
