Hollywood Funnyman Spends Holidays on 'Humbling' USO Tour and Leads Troops in 'USA' Chant

While many people spent the holidays curled up on the couch surrounded by family and friends, one Hollywood notable used the winter break to give back to service members.

Actor and comedian Adam Devine, who is known for his role in “Pitch Perfect,” traveled with his father to Afghanistan, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Poland and Spain for the USO Holiday Tour.

He sat in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter while visiting Powidz, Poland.

The actor met soldiers at Forward Operating Base Fenty in Afghanistan on Christmas Eve.
And marched alongside the ranks.

“We went to all these insane places, all this bizarre next-level stuff — stuff that you would think you'd never be able to do,” Devine told CBS News affiliate KMTV.

Devine also performed at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, which was just one of 11 performances he did throughout the tour.

At one point, he even led troops in a “USA” chant.

His father Dennis called it a “humbling” experience and told KMTV:

When we got there and you see all these kids and they're away from home I mean every one of them is going to the shows carrying weapons and it's like it brings it home that this is a dangerous place. And if we get to bring a little of it home for an hour I mean this is great.

According to the U.S. Air Forces Central Command, when the USO approached Devine about hosting the tour, it was a no-brainer.

At first, he thought it was just a “cool opportunity” to see the daily activities of the U.S. military, but it ended up being a much more significant experience.

“I knew this was going to be pretty fun, but I didn’t realize it was going to truly open my eyes to what you all do," Devine explained.

O Almighty Lord God, who neither slumberest nor sleepest; Protect and assist, we beseech thee, all those who at home or abroad, by land, by sea, or in the air, are serving this country, that they, being armed with thy defence, may be preserved evermore in all perils; and being filled with wisdom and girded with strength, may do their duty to thy honour and glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
