A marine who allegedly packed a gun, explosives and other weapons in his suitcase over the weekend will be in a Boston court on Tuesday to face charges.
Cpl. Justin Reed, 22, of Jacksonville, NC was stopped at Logan Airport shortly after 7 a.m. on Sunday.
According to state police, airport workers found a live grenade, three model rocket engines that contained an explosive mixture, several hundred rounds of ammunition and other devices in the marine's checked luggage.
Reed had traveled from Las Vegas to Boston and was scheduled to catch a connecting flight to Charlotte. When TSA officials re-checked Reed's luggage at Logan, they allegedly found the weapons.
Reed, faces several charges, including attempting to put an explosive device on an aircraft.
TSA officials are investigating why the guns and ammunition were not detected in Las Vegas.
