Thought I would share that the event went great, but my local news station interviewed a couple of the SDS crowd (gives media bias a whole new light). Sir Rushdie was very good and cracked a few jokes. He addressed the fatwa, noting that the Ayatollah who issued the fatwa was dead and that the efforts of the Islamic radicals to stifle the book and block free speech failed, that they lost, which elicited a round of applause from the audience. I also now own a signed copy of the controversial book
The Satanic Verses and proudly display it in my home and will not hesitate to whip it out at any extremist to scare them
