The only things changing in the last half-century are some Names of those historically being adversarial towards America, hating our guts, and would just as soon kill every American possible if given half-a-chance. Naturally, such cold warfare is usually conducted covertly by our enemies, since and even though hating our guts,...most our enemies are simply quite cowardly and/or gutless themselves.
Besides, and as long as there are DMZ's and many hot spots all over The world, where Americans must be 24/7 on Lock & Load, on guard and at the ready,...how-the-hell could anyone honestly believe that The Cold War is actually over. Hell, ask any forward element Trooper on The Korean DMZ just how much more safe and secure he feels, since politicos and pundits have declared The Cold War OVER? Seems to me that The North Koreans have gotten fiestier than ever, since The Cold War has foolishly been declared OVER.
Hell, even once cushy Marine Embassy Duty has gotten more dangerous since the foolishly proclaimed ending of The Cold War. But,...not to worry. Hot or Cold Wars,...there will always be The 7th Cav "To The Rescue" fellow Comrades in Arms. Besides, if my Alma Mater could handle surrounded and beleagured Khesan quite well, similarly bailing-out any embassy should be even easier. Wouldn't you think?
