The United States as reported some time ago via both Wikipedia and some historical news sources, has been at war for 222 years out of 239 years.

Personal note: It seems the US is always at war at one time another. The statistics don't give us the loss of lives or injured - but they have to be substantial over so many years.
I'd say the US shed plenty of lives and wounded in all these conflicts. Now its time to ask ourselves was all this really necessary (American History say's it was).
