?What really separates man from the beast??

Is it the power of thought alone, as some men claim that elevated us from the primordial ooze? Is it knowing the difference between right and wrong perhaps, or even not preying upon our own species that truly differentiates the homo sapien from a the common bacteria?

In reality, and ever since the beginnings of time itself, mankind?s own worse enemy has been mankind himself!! He wars upon himself, breeds diseases that devastate the race, perpetuates greed and lust, and in general, preys with absolute abandonment upon his peers - morally, socially, physically, spiritually and monetarily! ?In other words, and in general, we are a race of absolute jerks!!?

And yet, through all of this and more, we continue to convince ourselves of our godliness, nobility and immortality? And this in itself, proves at least one thing, it being, that we are genuine masters at fabrication and fooling ourselves!!

Real advancement requires far more than merely lip service - it mandates change and a genuine effort! And after all is said and done, were it not for humanity?s moderate sized brain, we would still be hiding ourselves in the trees and deep within moldering caves, while feasting off of bugs and carryon!

?Hey, come to think of it, many within our ranks still do, even though most of them have cleverly darned self- purifying titles, and traded in the old loincloth for a three piece suit!??
