I can relate to that - things were a lot slower back then - but we did learn how to duck and cover in school - so even back then we still had worries. We even had a Niki installation not far from our house - in the middle of a corn field. Every now and then they would test it and they would just pop up out of the underground and then after about ~ 1/2 hour they would just go back into the ground. All that was there was a small metal shed and a wire fence around the grounds nothing else. Oh I do recall a dish would also rise up with the Nikes.
Yep all our lives we grew up knowing the bombs may come!? If one was to fall we knew it would takes out a lot more than we want to think about. Hell of way to grow up - but we felt safe and that our government was on top of things. Today if the nukes come we won't even know what hit us and eventually the world will become quite again. What do they call that "Peace on Earth".
