I sporterized a Springfield 1903A3. Back in the sixties before I was drafted. My first hunting rifle. Its shot lots of deer. Yes, I was thinking of hitting the pawn shops or gun shows and trying to pick up a Mauser.
As a fly fisherman I tie my own flies. It gives you a special thrill to see a trout rise to something you've made. Same thrill when shooting something you have put your heart into.
Do they sporterize an M-14? I've always thought that would be a fun weapon to make into a hunting gun.
