... and no, I'm not talking about what certain seasoned citizens have to wear under their corduroy britches. Guerrilla warfare would most likely be employed in an area where the seeds to an insurgency have been sown, but have not yet sprouted into meaningful firefights. From the research I've done, every insurgency, successful or otherwise, has always started with guerrilla warfare, and if the initial phases are successful, it graduates (or degenerates, depending upon one's paradigm) into the next level of warfare, culminating in regular set-piece battles. It should not be thought of as a relic of the 19th or even the 20th century.
