I know we had a jump qualified chaplain in the 6th Special Forces Group at Ft. Bragg in 1969. He wore a beret, but I don't remember if he had a full flash or a bar. He was a major. If we had a Group chaplain, maybe they needed assistants, too.
He and I and a whole C-130 load of jumpers went into the trees on a night jump into the Pisgah National Forest in the Spring of '69. He used some rather colorful language while crashing through the tree tops.
