There is a good program about the French and Indian War on the History Channel right now. Very interesting subject. We probably wouldn't have had a Revolution without the things set up by this war. In North Carolina there was a tax rebellion right after the French and Indian War called the Regulators. These were people that followed tax collectors around stopping them from doing their work. Troops were sent in and these Regulators fled across the Appalachians into what is now East Tennessee. This was the first Wild West. Things got so out of hand that these Overmountain Men drew up a compact to self govern themselves called the Watauga Compact. It was the first instrument of self governence drawn up by white people in North America.
