As you may know,the reciever for the M1 Garand and the M14 is essentially the same except for provisions for a selector switch/auto fire.There is a Co. in Texas (Texas Armory?...not sure of the name off hand) that makes up what is basically M-14's without the selector switch from M1 recievers.These are designated as M1A's,or posibly M1A1's if I remember correctly.The ones that I have seen and fired were match grade and intended for use by Military Match competitors.They are very fine rifles but tend to carry pretty hefty price tags.
