In terms of tough shape, Jimmy had to go a begging to his best Pal, the Soviet Ambassador at the time, for assistance in his reelection bid. Evidently Moscow said ?nyet? and I reckon Jimmy got that real lonesome feeling, there and then. He seems to be a nice guy though, kind of like Mr. Rogers.
But then I found out that Mr. Rogers turned out to be a former Navy SEAL with 26 notches on the pistol grip and the reason for the cardigan sweater was to hide the wrist to shoulder tats.
So then, maybe ?Mr. Rogers? is the wrong analogy. But now, I really like the late Mr. Rogers, quite a character, not unlike ?Captain Kangaroo? of the USMC.
