Limbers for German Field Artillery
The German 7.7cm 96 n.A. and the 10cm lFH 98/09 used almost identical limbers. The only difference between them is that the rounds on the limber for the howitzer (24 in each limber) were stowed vertically, and also that the box was slighly deeper. These pictures show the feldprotze for the 7.7cm, with rounds in the very characterstic wicker containers. Notice also the big folded tent ("zeltsack"), and behind it the bench for the riders. Notice also the folding support used to keep the limber horisontal when in Battery.
These photos show two limbers currently on show at the splendid Army Museum in Brussels. (Or is the first grey one really a caisson?)
