Default How great they are

At Valley Forge Army Hospital after returning from accross the pond I was in my bed one Sunday night after lights out and a guy returned to the ward who I had seen several times before but really didn't know. The guy was returning from a weekend pass and proceeded to sit down on his bed, drop his drawers and take off his leg. I never knew nor even suspected that he had anartificial leg but in the following weeks I got to know him better and either rode in my chair or walked on my casted leg beside the guy and you could hear the click in his artificial leg as it came forward and he laughed and joked with the best of them.

The day before yesterday I had an appointment at the Atlanta VA and when I was there there was a tremendous outpouring of laughter in the back of the waiting room. I turned around like everybody else did and there was a guy sitting in a power chair in the back of the room laughing and making jokes with a good lookin' chick. The guy had one stub for a leg just below the crotch and the other leg was missing just below the knee and on his hands didn't have any fingers, not one, and he was obviously as happy as a mudlark. Why?

They are my hero's.
