Description:
(USN) James ('Jim') Daniels was born in Indiana in 1934, and moved with his family to the Phoenix AZ area in the late 1930s. Jim joined the Navy in 1951. After his boot camp training at San Diego, he was assigned to the USS Andromeda AKA 15 for two years. As an assault boat coxswain, Jim mastered small landing craft putting down and picking up American troops at Inchon and Pusan, Korea, in 1951-52. While on the USS Calvert APA 32 in 1954, Jim participated in two missions evacuating Vietnamese refugees from North to South Vietnam. Jim left active duty status in December 1955, and worked as an aviation machinist until his retirement in 1989.
