Question Hey, Chilidog

You guys okay? I hope you're high and dry. LA really dodged a bullet by "LILI" loosing her punch as she came ashore. Hope everything is well with you, Dave.

Default The hand of God

Lili was bearing down on us yesterday morning with 145 mph winds. She was coming in just a little west of us, which put us on the "dirty" side. That's the bad side where the winds are the strongest. Outer feeder bands were howling outside as my alarm clock went off yesterday morning. Thousands lost electricity. I already knew that I wasn't going to work, but I needed to get up and watch the storm. Then a strange thing happened. Lili started loosing strength. She was downgraded to a cat3, then a cat2 before she made landfall. Lili kept her aim towards Lafayette, but was downgraded again to a cat1. Lili set her aim on Alexandria, but was downgraded again to a tropical storm. All of the experts were dumbfounded as to why Lili lost her strength so fast. Over 1/2 million people lost electricity, but there were NO fatalities. This is really amazing for a storm this size.

Thumbs up CHILIDOG

Glad to hear you're okay. You're posting, so I assume your power wasn't affected. How much rain did you get? Did you go to work today? Thanks for checking in, Bud. Alot of us were thinking about ya.

Default Got juice

Hi Tom,
We never lost our power. Around 1/2 million people lost theirs and they predict that it will be 3-4 days before they get it all back. They originally expected 8-10 days before Lili lost her punch. Lili wasn't as bad as we all expected, but she was still bad enough. They are estimating that 25-30% of the suger cane crop is lost. Most of the rice and soybean crop is lost too. Hunting season was closed today south of I-10 due to flood waters displacing the wildlife. A man was bitten by a cotton-mouth today in the garden section of a store. All of this sounds gloomy, but nobody died! I think that's great.
