A Little Philosophy for Discussion

A key to contentment and happiness.


1. Don't glamorize the past. Don't make the past seem better
than it really was.

2. Don't make the present worse than it really is. The Present
will be the past tomorrow. Don't make your present
problems worse than they really are.

3. Don't make the future better than it really will be.


The philosophy: Many people make the past into something wonderful, often more wonderful than it really was. The danger is living in the past and avoiding the reality of the present. "If I could only live back then, then I'd be happy. Well its behind you, deal with it.

Many people allow themselves to be over come by the present and its problems. Often times the present isn't any worse than the past. It has its good moments and bad moments. Enjoy the present and deal with the bad but don't make it worse than it really is. Enjoy this moment you are living because in reality its all you have.

Some people live in the future. We don't really know what the future holds. Don't live there. It more and likely will be like the rest of our lives. Sprinkled with both good and bad. And, always remember "Old Age isn't for sissies."

Remember you can be, "Content in all situations, whether you are rich or poor, full or hungry." The attitudes you have will definitely show on the register of your happiness meter. It all boils down to this. Happiness is an attitude we can either embrace or not embrace. The choice is yours, am I going to be happy or a grump that know one wants to be around.

Now when I tell about the last fishing trip and a round of golf I just played- they are not included in what you message is talking about -right?

I've had some bad days at the golf course and bad days fishing but all in all it was enjoyable, even the worst of times.

Makes one hell of alot of sense to me. ( But I still live in the Past, and reality dont look forward to the future. )
