![]() This was printed in a Tampa newspaper editorial
section a few days after it was reported that in Florida a court upheld the right of Muslim woman to keep her face covered for an automobile license photo. THIS SAYS IT ALL............. After hearing that the state of Florida changed its opinion and let a Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's license with her face covered, I believe this is even more appropriate. Read on, please!! This is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS and CANADIANS, MUST ADAPT. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans and Canadians. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely comprised of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America and Canada being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans and Canadians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If Stars Strips and Maple Leaf's offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. These are OUR COUNTRIES, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his or her opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flags, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other great American and Canadian freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE. Amen |

![]() You,
as (almost) ususally (like the rest of us) make too much sense. I always thought that if you were an immigrant, then YOU were coming Here to be a part a OUR already estasblished cuture and (like my grandparents) You would become a part of it - if you were set on changing things, why didn't YOU stay there and DO THE JOB? (the you does not refer to you, Theoddz; just so we don't spark any unnecessary fire-fights.) Personnaly, I'm a bit scared I'm becoming an isolationist. Keith posted awhile ago that we needed to SHUT DOWN THE BORDERS, and I'm beginning to agree with him. (If I misread your post, Mr. Hixson, I apologize.) The image of men, women and children being abused by dictatorial"republics" (they're all over the globe, if you believe the PR) not to mention gangs of drug lords, gun runners and plain war lords, goes against all the ideas we wrote down a coupla centuries ago, but, dammit, pick up a stick and find a way. We are not the mousehole of the world!

![]() However, and since such a good article was preceeded by such an asinine display of judicial nonsense (re. The Florida Court), in that it's perfectly alright to wear A MASK on ones Photo I.D.,...it certainly makes me wonder if no matter what's written of importance here in America,...it just isn't too-little, too-late??
After all, just because our pre-war obsession with political-correctness didn't take us all the way down-the-tubes,...I don't believe that our now unilaterally fighting a politically-correct and/or over-sensitivity towards everything foreign warfare is very reassuring,...to say the least. Besides, no nation in The History of The World ever won any conflict by being politically-correct and "Circleling-the-wagons" or being on Alert (no matter what color). Want to be a winner? Then, just find the enemy and destroy the enemy quicker and in larger volume than they can destroy YOU/US. Warfare not being micromanaged by politicos (last time wisely wasn't done so by America was during WWII),...also couldn't hurt either. Neil |
