"The Best of The Best"

Having always been obnoxiously proud of serving with: "The Best of The 10th" Division (re. 10th Recon Co) and then; "The Best of The Best" (re. "THE A-Troop"), the two finest Companies in The United States Military and/or; "The (VERY) Few - The (VERY) Proud", I never thought that I could be prouder of such people.
I was wrong.

On The News this morning my Unit Pride just exploded. Such was due to my alma mater 3rd Recon Sqdn/7th Cavalry and lead element of The 3rd Infantry Division merely doing its job (well of course),...and why "They" get-the-big-bucks.

After being one of the first Combat Units to fight their way (about a couple of hundred miles) into Bagdad and take and secure Bagdad International Airport (the new airport name), "They" took-on/out 9 or so enemy tanks, and also killed about 400 iraqi vermin.
Not too bad a vermin count, considering The Squadrons' Personnel amount is almost similar? Don't you think?

People always having: "The Right Stuff" aside, one hopes (hell, this yokel prays) that: The Brave Ones don't get overly Gung-Ho (their norm) and keep their asses down and/or take proper cover and concealment when needed. After all, and especially when fighting against vermin, even cornered iraqi rats will fight just like that.

Besides, many such vermin knowing that hangings are in store for both past and present atrocities have nothing to loose. So, never let your guard down People.

Regardless, to all you Fine Troopers I say: GarryOwen and go: "Kick-ass and Take Names" and/or what you do BEST.
Still, keep you butts down, and get back safe.

But, since having gotten so few Private Messages, I rarely ever look there. Regardless, and since I couldn't respond via Private Message anyway (just wouldn't work for me), I'll just do so here.

So,...no "Thanks" needed from any Honorable Veteran, and especially one from The 1st Air Cav and/or Division suffering the most casualties of The Vietnam War, and recipient of The First Presidential Unit Citation awarded since WWII.

Whom in Small Units are better brainwashed, more Gung-Ho or have extreme Unit Pride aside,...your 545 MP Co. referrence got me thinking.

Hell, that's exactly the types needed (and BIG TIME) these days in Iraq. Naturally, not in The North yet.

After all, and since TV shows me that policing is needed BIG TIME and the set-up of an authority system is needed BIG TIME,...whom better than AP's, MP's, SP's, JAG and such to keep order, get the ball rolling and/or show The Iraqi People how to do the jobs without torture chambers (a 30 year norm).

Also, and since pockets of fanatical thugs still exist in such a large country, whom better than Coalition Military Police for calling-in Air Strikes or some bigger Units into destroying The Pocket of Resistance? Hey,..."They" all do speak the same language. Well, sort-of?
