Many veterans have (in the past), filed claims for benefits, and many, many more will do so in the future! ?War after all, is (unfortunately) deeply imbedded within humanity?s nature!!? And the ?Veterans Administration?s Adversarial Paternalistic? approach to ?REAL? justice is (in my opinion), the ?Commander In Chief Of All Oxymorons!?

Cutting through all of the crap, as well as well as those lean and painful years that this oft-time fruitless crusade eats up, let me ask you a pointed question: ?Is your dealings with the VA a fair fight, or are you facing yet another Alamo or Little Big Horn??

?Well, here is a (not so) small portion of what you are up against!!? Did you know that (VA?s own figures), even though you are represented by but a single attorney (if you are lucky), the Veterans Administration employs some 400 well-paid lawyers to do endless battle against the veteran/claimant?

Now add to this little (?) item the fact that this years budget for that very same VA is nearly ?$63 BILLION DOLLARS? in operational (tax generated) funds (including paying handsomely, all of those lawyers that I mentioned above), and maybe (?) you begin to get the idea?!

?Hell, Goliath was a pansy and a walkover for David, when seriously compared to the up-hill battle faced by many veterans at the VA and their bureaucratic counterparts!!? So remember this: ?An enemy can take your life in a heartbeat, whereas, the VA and some of it?s dangling groins, can tear you apart a little piece at a time, year after countless year! ?And some of them genuinely enjoy the prospect!??

It's a system that isn't fair in most cases. The Government has the dough and the polictics want as much as they can fanagle.
The lawyer's are there for the graph and the favors that come from the feeding frenzies.

The little man has but one choice and very little cash to make a difference in the systems paper trail. The media is who you want blowing the whistle and making it more public - but the government knows how to step on them as well so they do not tread into those areas like they used to.

I don't know how it can be corrected and if it really can be. Its not a perfect system but it does provide some help depending on just how serious your condition is.

Some areas are easier to work with than others. Different areas provide a different kindof care it seems. My brother (when alive) would travel to difference VA centers and hospitals until he got the help he needed - but by then Agent Orange had eaten him up from the inside out.

I don't think it will get better in fact like Social Security I'm sure it will eventually become too large to fund and maintain. Most of those in need only need medicine to keep them going and they are making it tough to get even that at times.

Glad to see you two are on top of thigns, causing I didnt have any idea of what could and can happen with the VA.

There is a long long story behind mine of which I dont want to get into at this moment,

but when you sign that dotted or straight line on your contract, SHOUDNT THAT COUNT FOR SOMETHING??????

My battle with them is in the second phase.
The first being; getting a disability rating, the second being; it's a friggin shame what they came up with! I have joined the DAV, and will use them as my "sword" in this fight. I hope my "shield" is thick enough!
Cripes what a friggin nightmare this is gonna be!
