It?s d?j? vu all over again.

I don?t remember exactly what day it was but it was sometime early in my tour ?in country,? election day in Vietnam. We had a similar mission in VN as we do today in Iraq, which was to bring the same liberties and freedoms to the Vietnamese as we enjoy in the United States or at least that?s what I understood our mission to be. I swore to defend the constitution of the United States when I raised my right hand.
Soon, in Iraq, their going to hold elections and the ?opposition? is terrorizing the people to ignore that election.
The VC terrorized the people of RSVN to NOT vote. On that day we saw the VC boldly at the poles beating voters away from the poles and we did NOTHING to stop that terrorization of the electorate.

Freedom cost and it all depends on how bad they want it. Even here in the States we have poll buster's and we still today have some corruption that takes place during voting.

These people have to stand up now and take a stand or they will never acquire any freedom of choice. Other Arab Nation's are watching closely. An Iraq will have to suffer in order to accomplish freedom.

It's tragic but necessary in order to establish and form changes in their system. Otherwise when we do pull out and we will some day - they can quickly fall back into that quagmire of persecution and it will start all over again.

This is their day to set it right we are their and its doubtful we will be back to give them this chance again.
