![]() OKLAHOMA CASINOCITY FYI As far as I can tell by the maps I found tonight we have only one Reservation (Osage) and the rest areOklahoma Tribal Statistical Areas. OTSA are explained in the following paragraphs. Oklahoma tribal statistical areas (OTSAs) are statistical entities identified and delineated by the U.S. Census Bureau in consultation with federally recognized American Indian tribes in Oklahoma that do not currently have a reservation, but once had a reservation in that state. Boundaries of OTSAs will be those of the former reservations in Oklahoma, except where modified by agreements with neighboring tribes for data presentation purposes. OTSAs replace the "tribal jurisdiction statistical areas" of the 1990 census. The Census Bureau first provided data for the former Oklahoma reservations in conjunction with the 1980 census, when it defined a single all-encompassing geographic entity called the "Historic Areas of Oklahoma (excluding urbanized areas)." Each OTSA is assigned a national four-digit census code ranging from 5500 through 5999 based on the alphabetical sequence of each OTSA's name, except that the joint use areas appear at the end of the code range. Each OTSA also is assigned a five-digit Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) code in alphabetical order in Oklahoma.

![]() And Still the Waters Run THE BETRAYAL OF THE FIVE CIVILIZED TRIBES by Angie Debowilltell the story of the liquidation of the independent Indian Republics of the Choctaws, Chickasaws, Cherokee, Creeks, and Seminoles known as the five civilized tribes and how Congress abrogated treaties that it promised would last "as long as the waters run". She also documents the orgy of exploitation that took place when Oklahoma was admitted to the Union and Indians were given citizenship.

![]() Arrow I never understood why Indians needed to be given citizenship since they were the first ones here. I go to the Indian gaming casinos here in CA one of the casinos make the Reno and Vegas casinos look ancient.

![]() I read in the paper where the State of Washington was reprimanding a little tribe in Western Washington. They said they were making too much money. They also complained that every man, woman and child was getting over $3,000 monthly for doing and nothing and threatening to take some kind of legal action against them. The Indians told the state to back off because their rights were established by the federal government and if they interfered with their operation and how they spent their money they would be in big trouble. Most of the public agreed with the assessment. I do hope they use the money wisely to benefit their people.

![]() Most likely it?s the same Seattle bunch that want to shut down the Chief Joseph hydro power plant. It?s well known around there that the Reservations are off limits to local authorities for any purposes that are not approved by the Washoe and Piute Tribe counsel, and they make it stick plus got the big, big boys to back it up. Big Indians, them Piute and Washoe. :ek:

![]() Arrow, I didn't realize all the Casinos in OK I guess a lot has changed since the 60's when I saw all the broken down Cadillacs in the front yards of Cherrokees and other tribes after they got their Oil Royalty checks and they thought their would be another check that never came.LIke the original deal that gave their land away in Geogria some leaders made big money while the members of the tribe got their one check to get them to sign away their mineral rights for good.Thats what I still remember from what my parents showed us kids one year on Vacation. While Wilma Mankiller was chief of the Cherokee some improvements were made through some good marketing of the Name Cherokee like the Jeep Cherokee lisencing and the line of clothing bearing their name. The Western Cherokee Nation get a royalty from all those sales.
