Deja Vu At Ft Ord
Was down in Monterey, last couple of days visiting my son.
We went out to Ft Ord, its a college now. I did Basic and Infantry AIT here. My old basic training barracks have been torn down but the AIT barracks are still there. This is the old company street Its like a well preserved ghost town. You can stand here and listen to thousands of marching feet in your mind, visualize formations of men marching around It feels like going back to my high school again

James
James,
It looks so much like Ft. Lewis, the North Fort were I took Basic and the Company Area in Ft Devens I wouldn't have know the difference. Sometime when I'm driving by Ft. Lewis I'll have to drop in and drive around if they will let me. Memories can be a good thing if we don't live there. Keith |

James!!!
Why did you have to post such horrible photos?!! Those are just like the barracks I stayed in at Chanute AFB Tech School in Rantoul, IL from early November '68 through mid-February '69. I remember that damn "Hawk" howling through the cracks in the walls and under the doors. The thing I hated the most was that the toilets didn't have any stalls and I just couldn't get used to takin' a BM while some guy next to me was screaming and straining to get one past his 'roids. Privacy was NOT a priority in those shacks.

James, in that first pic you are not at Ft Ord...
You are standing in the company street of my BCT company at Harmony Church at Ft. Benning. I swear! Lookin' at those pics is a rush! Airborne! Steve / 82Rigger |
