![]() Hi Dan,
My Uncle is really into it, and has traced our name back to the 1450's, when it originated. For some lines of the family, he ended up getting in touch with people in Europe who were willing to pass on history, but he had to install a translator on his computer to figure out what they were saying. He has printed up a book of information for everyone, and each year adds updates to the pages. Where did your people sail from?

![]() My wife's cousin who is a Phd Anthropolgist took it up and traced Susan's heritage all the way back to the Mayflower. Ever since I have been tracing our families heritage back. On line it is pretty easy, to a point. When you back to pre-Revolutionary War it is hard to find documentation. I am a total WASP and so is my wife. (white, anglo-saxon, protestant) Both our heritages go back beyond the Revolutionary War. We have somewhat traced our heritages back across the ocean to England but the clues run out real quick over there.

![]() the good people at the ancestry message boards do not agree. because
way back when the lines of countries could change very fast... our choices are i believe: england, scotland, ireland, netherland\holland and even germany. back then in the year 1000 or before and up to ???. info is very scarce.

![]() Mom's family we can go back to 1690, lots of records and even some personal info on all sorts of people. (Some of the facts come from a very old family bible.)
Not much luck with Dad's family. In 1939 the town my grandfather was from was massacared by the Nazi's and all the building leveled, even the graveyard was bulldozed. So, we only go back to my grandfather's grandfather - oral history. I've written a 40+ page history of the family for my son's. Threw in as many anectodes as possible, tryed to make these people real, warts and all. Stay healthy, Andy |

![]() Dan,
I can go back to early 1800's but after that I have to go to Italy to research the church records. I like doing this but its time consuming and none of the other family members want to help so it goes in spurts and when I get some information I log it in.

![]() We all go back to Adam and Eve.
![]() I saw an Article by a bunch of DNA experts. They had analized people from all nationalities around the world. Did DNA comparisons and came to an astonishing conclusion. All people from around the globe come from one couple, approximately 20,000 years ago. This information is blowing away lots of theories about the origin of the human race. Humanity as we know it isn't all that old. The TV program said it has really shaken up the world of Anthropology they are officially denying the evidence produced by several DNA scientists. They feel the evidence is wrong because it doesn't match their theories. Keith |

![]() Dan, every time I visit Buffalo I tramp through the cemeteries where my wife's family members are buried. The last trip I found 8 additional graves that no one remembered. I have to go to your city soon to talk to my wife's aunt, who is the only one left who can connect names and dates to a WHOLE lot of photos we have inherited over the years. (I'll give ya a shout, and maybe we can meet for a beverage of your choice, and we'll ask Jane to join us, too.)
My family tree numbers almost 1700 people. I have particular problems with Ireland; my wife's ancestors came over through Canada to Buffalo and NYC before 1800. Her g-grandfather (Carney) was in the Union Navy on an ironclad in the Mississippi River and was taken prisoner. He was a POW in the at Libby Prison in Richmond. I found a transcript of his military service, which is very interesting. I have no idea from where they came, however, and anyone who might have known that info is gone. Interestingly, not one of our relatives is listed on the Ellis Island records. Through the 'Net I found a cousin - and then another one - in Sweden who I didn't even know existed. They took me back to about 1730, and they'll go further back when time allows. Jeff |

![]() My mother traced our lineage back... turns out Rebecca Nurse (orginally 'Nourse' before the church changed the records after it took back it's charges and excommunication years and years later...after she was hung of course!) as written about in 'The Crucible' is straight up all maternal branches for me. But I don't see dead people and I can't talk to animals and I sadly have NO superpowers.
"I am no more a witch then you are a warlock, and if you deem me so, you drink from the Devil's cup." I'm sure the author put those words in her mouth. Keith - that is very cool - I love it when doctors and scientists 'get their's' |
