Unhappy Dogs - Friends

A few weeks ago there was a discussion going on about police dogs here and whether or not they were equipment or officers. Today a friend of mine died in my arms. Bandit wasn't a piece of equipment or a person. He was a happy part of the family. He could be depended on to make you laugh and make you feel welcome. I'm going to miss that ball of fur but only because I loved him and he loved everyone. He was a dog with feelings, with a heart and soul. His only purpose in life was to bring a smile to your face.

Default John...

...Dogs are an extention of the family, part of you goes with them when they pass on, your grief is shared by many, and a cyber hug is offered...

...you make me cry too,.. for I lost mine last year to a fleeing truck who never stopped...

..."SCOUT DOGS", "DON'T WALK POINT WITHOUT ONE"

...is the clipping I have on my wall here in my office, and although there has been discussion on weather, or not they are to be considered officers of the law, I for one believe that they are vital in very many circumstances, they would take a bullet, or die for their handler without hesitation, and that alone puts them above being just an "officer",...

... can't say the same for most humans,... many people shoot bullets, but ask one person to take one for you, and see the results...

...woof..............

So sorry for your loss. I don't know how we'd handle it if something happened to our "boy". Dogs are the best.

Stick,

I'm sorry to read about your dog Bandit. I grew up with parents who were animal lovers. Our dogs were German Shepherds. We once had a litter of 10 puppies. They were a gas. We named them all and cried when each one of them were given to new owners.

Our dogs were family to us. King was black and silver and he was quite the moose. I road on his back many times while I was a four year old. He once tugged on my shirt when I was attempting to climb our 6' fence. I?m positive he was looking out for me.

I have wonderful memories of our dogs. Again, I'm sorry for your loss and for rambling away...

Got up this morning at 4:00 (couldn't sleep). Walked to the store again. Three miles on gimpy legs. At 7:00 I called the woman that we rented our last store from and who has connections with the APL and who might know of a breader of Shitzu's close by. Joanne called the store at 10:00 and told me that she had tried to call the breeder of Bandit but they were no longer there. My number five daughter, Mandie, called the store at 11:30 and told me that she had found an ad on line of the local newspaper with Shitzu's. I hadn't asked Mandie to check any ads.
Isn't it amazing how everyone in this family is thinking of the same thing at the same time and how every thing comes together when you need it too.
Mandie drove to the store and picked up my ATM card. Went to the bank and withdrew the money. Five minutes before Joanne shows up at the store this afternoon Mandie hands over to me a seven week old Shitzu. Joanne and I both are in tears when she walks in the store and sees the pup. God is good.

Default Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

John,
I'm really sorry to hear about Bandit. We would really be torn up if something happened to Chili (our Yorkie).
