Default My Veteran's Day hero

My hero this and every Veteran Day is my father,T/Sgt Talbert Jackson Phillips. He passed away 6 years ago and he was a hero to me.I listened to his stories of being a waist gunner on a B-24 Liberator and flying with the 394th Heavy Bomb Group,13th Army Air Corp in the Pacific. On a raid Sept 30,1944 to Balipapan,Borneo,my father's aircraft the "Mary Day"was damaged by flak and had to crash land on return. My father was a proud veteran and my main reason for going into the Army(he wanted me to go Air Force)but he was proud I went into the service. He is standing ,5th from left.Taken 1944 somewhere in the Pacific

Very good choice Whiteoak. Hope everyone had a good day.I dressed in BDU's and attended a parade in the parking lot of Our local newspaper. The keynote speaker was Congressman Harold
Ford Jr. (Tenn.) He spoke very highly about the Veterans, and gave
praise to us and Our active duty troops. There were more than
400 in attendance not counting "Vets" this was a good turn-out.
I sit behind a special forces vet He had this on his vest: John 15:13. I looked at the scripture it reads: NOTHING IS NO GREATER LOVE THAN THIS,tHAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIEND.
What else can be said? It was great sitting in the midst of Vets from way back. See You on the high ground. "TOPP Gee"
